Transformers Micron Legend - X-Dimension Destruction Team - Crush

The Transformers is a line of toys produced by the American toy company Hasbro. The Transformers toyline was originally created and produced by Japanese company Takara Tomy (Formerly Takara) and branded as Diaclones and Microman. In 1984, Hasbro bought the distribution rights to the Diaclone and Microman toylines and rebranded them as the Transformers for distribution in North America. Hasbro would go on to buy the entire toy line from Takara shortly after giving them sole ownership of the Transformers toy-line, branding rights, and copyrights, while in exchange, Takara was given the rights to produce the toys and the rights to distribute them in the Japanese market. The premise behind the Transformers toyline is that an individual toy's parts can be shifted about to change it from a vehicle, a device, or an animal, to a robot action figure and back again. The taglines "More Than Meets The Eye" and "Robots In Disguise" reflect this ability.

Sequels followed, such as the Generation 2 comic book and Beast Wars TV series which became its own mini-universe. The first was the Robots in Disguise series, followed by three shows that consist of the "Unicron Trilogy" (consisting of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron). A live-action film was also released in 2007 and a sequel has since been released in 2009, again distinct from previous incarnations, while the Transformers Animated series merged concepts from the G1 story-arc and the 2007 live-action film.

Transformers Super Collection Force - Wing Convoy

The first Transformers toys were created from the different transforming robot toylines from Takara, notably the Diaclone and Micro Change (Microman) series. Hasbro acquired the rights to sell them in the United States but, instead of selling them under their original names, they were rebranded as "The Transformers." The first two years consisted primarily of reusing the Diaclone/Micro Change molds. Some of the models from the Diaclone line still have the pilot's seat in their design. The tagline to the Transformers is, "More Than Meets The Eye!" The earliest toys had some parts made of die-cast metal, which were eventually phased out.

It is worth noting that the line was released as "The Transformers" in the USA, Canada and the UK in 1984 but Takara was still marketing Diaclone at least during 1984. Hence in Japan "The Transformers" did not debut under that brand till 1985, when the line was also rolled out to the majority of the rest of the world between Takara and Hasbro. Hasbro Europe still will not accept, however, that the range was released in the UK in 1984, not even with evidence such as Argos 1984 catalogues containing the range, the UK comic launching in September 1984 or even the 1984 Transformers product catalogue produced by "Hasbro Industries (UK) Ltd, Wokingham." It is thought that Hasbro Europe as it now stands did not come into existence till 1985, hence no records of Transformers sales in 1984. UK Transformers toys were sold in identical boxes to those of their American counterparts up until around 1998/9 when the range started to have UK exclusives

A live-action film was also released in 2007 and a sequel has since been released in 2009, again distinct from previous incarnations, while the Transformers Animated series merged concepts from the G1 story-arc and the 2007 live-action film.

Transformers Armada - Thrust

Transformers Armada - Crumplezone

Transformers Generation One - Skydive

Micromaster Collection was a small Transformers toyline released by Takara which ran from 2002 to 2003. It consisted entirely of reissues and redecos of the Micromaster six-combiner teams originally created for Return of Convoy and Operation Combination, plus the Multiforce from Victory. The time-and-space-bending story of the series, told through six short prose excerpts printed on the pack-in fliers which came with the toys, was set in the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity, and placed its action in the early 1980s prior to the awakening of the Autobots and Decepticons aboard the Ark.

For fans, Micromaster Collection is probably second-best known for being the first time any of the individual components of the combiner forms were given bios with complete personality writeups, over a decade after their original releases. (It is likely best known, of course, for inexpensively reissuing toys whose original versions commanded high prices on the secondary market due to their relative obscurity.)

The original series program was followed by a number of spin-offs with varying levels of popularity. A live-action remake, directed by Michael Bay under the sponsorship of Steven Spielberg, premiered on June 12, 2007 and opened in the North America on July 2, 2007 at 8:00 PM. Uber rare 1941 iss

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Uber rare 1941 iss.

Though not Transformers related what-so-ever we thought this ebay auction was too cool not to share with everyone (considering many people reading this website will be fans of Marvel comics).  The auction is for a near perfect copy of Captain American Issue 2 from 1941 and is considered one of the rarest comics to find, especially in the condition that the seller has it.

Here is the information regarding the comic. \"The story behind this book is almost as unlikely as the book itself. It began with a late night phone call with the gracious and friendly seller of a small group of 80 original owner comics in Litchfield County, Connecticut. The young man was selling the books for his uncle, who purchased all of them on the newsstand in the same general area. Sitting untouched, unbagged, and unboarded for almost 70 years this freak of nature somehow managed to survive in Newsstand fresh shape for decades!!\"

The auction has to be seen to be believed, if nothing else just to see how much it finally sells for.  Currently its selling at over $55,000!

Hasbro to open a Russian Office

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Hasbro to open a Russian Office.

ToysNews, the UK toy news magazine, is reporting that Hasbro has opened an office in Russia with hopes that it will lead to a growing market for them.

Hasbro is targeting the Eastern European market with the opening of an office in Russia.

The firm has opened a Moscow office in order to improve brand awareness and distribution in its fastest-growing market in Eastern Europe.

\"Russia is the most attractive market for us... definitely we are coming here to increase our market share,\" Tomasz Micek, Hasbro\'s Russian head, said.

It estimates it has a three percent share of Russia\'s $1.5 billion toy market where it currently sells toys via two distributors.

It has run 12 television commercials this spring in Russia and plans another 20 by the end of the year, according to Micek.

Besides television, the company also plans to push magazine and Internet promotions.

\"The good thing about the toy and game business is that it does not tend to be as bumpy as the economy. It seems that parents want to continue to spend money on their children. I\'d rather be in my business than in cars, or houses, and that\'s where the swings are very very big,\" said John Harper, Hasbro\'s general manager for Europe.

Hasbro

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Hasbro.

Hasbro have issued the following press release regarding Hasbro Studios which makes mention to new programming being planned for many of their brands including Transfomers right at the end of the release.  Of course it could just be that they wanted to throw in some of their biggest properties into the press release and, therefore, does not mean that its a 100% certainty that Hasbro Studio will be behind the next animated incarnation of the Transformers brand.

Hasbro, Inc. Announces Key Executive Appointments for Hasbro Studios

PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS - News) announced today the appointment of key executives at the company’s newly formed Hasbro Studios, which is based in Los Angeles. Industry veteran Stephen J. Davis, President of Hasbro Studios, will lead the “virtual” studio, which will produce shows based on Hasbro’s world class brands, deliver new branded content and produce programs from top third party content creators. Many of these shows will run on the new television network created by the joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery Communications (NASDAQ: DISCA - News, DISCB - News, DISCK - News), that is planned to debut Fall 2010, as well as on multiple channels in international markets.

Davis has named the following individuals to take on key roles as part of the Hasbro Studios management team: Bob Boden currently Senior Vice President, Programming and Production Fox Reality Channel and former SVP of programming for the Game Show Network, will be Head of Reality and Game Show Development and Production. Michael J. Vogel, currently Director, Animated Programming, Sony Pictures Television, will serve as Head of Boys Animation. Brian Charles Lenard, Director, Scripted Development, RDF Media Group, Pangea Management Group and RDF USA, will take on the role of Head of Story Development. Mary Beth Bambridge, Head of Strategic Planning, William Morris Endeavour Entertainment, will be the company’s Head of Finance, and Kevin Healy, Head of Business and Legal Affairs, Hasbro Entertainment and Licensing will serve as Hasbro Studios’ Head of Legal and Business Affairs.

“There are a number of factors that makes heading up Hasbro Studios such an exciting opportunity,” Davis said. “First, great programming requires great content, and we have the unique opportunity to take an amazing portfolio of iconic brands into all new and creative places. Second, I have been given the green light to hire the best in the business, and the appointments we are announcing today demonstrates that Hasbro Studios will have the creative and intellectual firepower necessary to do great things. I am delighted with the team we are putting in place,” Davis concluded.

As previously announced, Hasbro Studios’ productions will feed all platforms, domestically and globally, including television, the Internet and mobile. New programming is planned based on brands such as ROMPER ROOM, TRIVIAL PURSUIT, SCRABBLE, CRANIUM, MY LITTLE PONY, G.I. JOE, GAME OF LIFE, TONKA and TRANSFORMERS, among many others.
