Transformers Classics - Optimus Prime

The Transformers is a line of toys produced by the American toy company Hasbro. The Transformers toyline was originally created and produced by Japanese company Takara Tomy (Formerly Takara) and branded as Diaclones and Microman. In 1984, Hasbro bought the distribution rights to the Diaclone and Microman toylines and rebranded them as the Transformers for distribution in North America. Hasbro would go on to buy the entire toy line from Takara shortly after giving them sole ownership of the Transformers toy-line, branding rights, and copyrights, while in exchange, Takara was given the rights to produce the toys and the rights to distribute them in the Japanese market. The premise behind the Transformers toyline is that an individual toy's parts can be shifted about to change it from a vehicle, a device, or an animal, to a robot action figure and back again. The taglines "More Than Meets The Eye" and "Robots In Disguise" reflect this ability.

Auto Assembly 2010 Reminver - 193 days to go.

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Auto Assembly 2010 Reminver - 193 days to go..

Just a quick reminder that there is just 193 days left until Auto Assembly 2010.  For those who do not know, Auto Assembly is Europe\'s largest Transformers fan convention and will run from Friday, 13th August 2010 at 17:30 until 20:00 on Sunday 15th August 2010.  This years event sees AA return to the same location as 2009, the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham.  You can find it on Google maps.  The arrow is pointing to where the actual hotel and convention will be, as Google have the location of the Holiday Inn wrong.

The current guest list stands at:

  1. Garry Chalk (guest of honour)
  2. Derrick J Wyatt (2nd guest of honour)
  3. Liam Shalloo
  4. Simon Williams
  5. Guido Guidi
  6. Simon Furman
  7. Kris Carter
  8. Jason Cardy
  9. Kat Nicholson

If this wasn\'t enough, a third guest of honour is still in the works, plus you will have toy dealers, panels, Q&A, evening entertainment and so much more.

If you have never been to a Transformers convention and live in the UK we urge you to attend the event.  If you are unsure because you do not know anyone that\'s fine, you will not be the only nervous person there and you\'ll be going to an event where you already have something in common with 95% of the people there ... an interest in Transformers.  So whether you want to go to buy some toys, meet the guests or meet up with fellow Transformers enthusiasts there is something at Auto Assembly for everyone.  The event is close to car parks, a train station, not to mention a comic shop :p.  So come along and say high.  We\'re easy to find, just look for the two guys who look the same.

Please visit the Auto Assembly website for more information and to pre-register (being a non-profit event pre-registration is very important as it helps the keep track of how many guests can be afforded) and don\'t forget to drop by the Auto Assembly Facebook page.

Transformers Attacktix - Starscream

Micromaster Collection was a small Transformers toyline released by Takara which ran from 2002 to 2003. It consisted entirely of reissues and redecos of the Micromaster six-combiner teams originally created for Return of Convoy and Operation Combination, plus the Multiforce from Victory. The time-and-space-bending story of the series, told through six short prose excerpts printed on the pack-in fliers which came with the toys, was set in the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity, and placed its action in the early 1980s prior to the awakening of the Autobots and Decepticons aboard the Ark.

For fans, Micromaster Collection is probably second-best known for being the first time any of the individual components of the combiner forms were given bios with complete personality writeups, over a decade after their original releases. (It is likely best known, of course, for inexpensively reissuing toys whose original versions commanded high prices on the secondary market due to their relative obscurity.)

Japanese Transformers Generation One - Tackle (Takle)

The first Transformers toys were created from the different transforming robot toylines from Takara, notably the Diaclone and Micro Change (Microman) series. Hasbro acquired the rights to sell them in the United States but, instead of selling them under their original names, they were rebranded as "The Transformers." The first two years consisted primarily of reusing the Diaclone/Micro Change molds. Some of the models from the Diaclone line still have the pilot's seat in their design. The tagline to the Transformers is, "More Than Meets The Eye!" The earliest toys had some parts made of die-cast metal, which were eventually phased out.

It is worth noting that the line was released as "The Transformers" in the USA, Canada and the UK in 1984 but Takara was still marketing Diaclone at least during 1984. Hence in Japan "The Transformers" did not debut under that brand till 1985, when the line was also rolled out to the majority of the rest of the world between Takara and Hasbro. Hasbro Europe still will not accept, however, that the range was released in the UK in 1984, not even with evidence such as Argos 1984 catalogues containing the range, the UK comic launching in September 1984 or even the 1984 Transformers product catalogue produced by "Hasbro Industries (UK) Ltd, Wokingham." It is thought that Hasbro Europe as it now stands did not come into existence till 1985, hence no records of Transformers sales in 1984. UK Transformers toys were sold in identical boxes to those of their American counterparts up until around 1998/9 when the range started to have UK exclusives

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called UK Toyfair roundup.

Thanks to NinjaCyborg for posting a round-up from the British Toyfair on our message board.

Transformers selection was clearly visible through the booth window so I don\'t see why I shouldn\'t report what I could see. Not like I signed an NDA or anything.

A lot of the display was current releases - ROTF scouts, HA Bumblebee, Leader Prime.

On display, but not on general release yet, was:
Leader Starscream, ROTF Bludgeon

and more importantly from the new stuff was:

WFC Optimus - looked bigger than deluxe, more like Voyager size

WFC Bumblebee - awesome vehicle mode, and even more awesome, metallic gold paint/plastic

Universe Seaspray - ultra sized I think, since it was bigger than ROTF Bludgeon that it was next to. Looks just like a huge version of the original Same blue and white and yellow for the turbines. Very nice.

Some new G1 style legends - I think I saw a jeep, Outback maybe? or Swindle?, It was khaki coloured but the view from the booth window was too far to see the smaller toys
Some kind of combiner - could have been power combiners, but looked to me more like it was built from Legends sized figures - and it was definitely not Devastator. One of the legs looked like a jet or shuttle of some kind. Could be a Legends Bruticus set? Was very lanky and with wiry limbs, but humanoid in shape.
\'Leader\' ROTF Bumblebee or whatever it\'s going to be called

Also visible through the Hasbro window was some Marvel Universe stuff, but nothing new and no Iron Man 2 that I could see.

Also saw the A-Team figures on another booth. Not bad likenesses of the new actors. Still hate Neeson as Hannibal though.

Funny that Mattel or Mattel distributors are totally absent from this fair. No wonder you can\'t find Avatar toys anywhere.
